I know there is some issue with Intel HD display drivers or something but i still cannot see Windows 7 SP1 in my Windows update.
Is anyone else having the same issues?
Are SOny going to update the display drivers for this model to accomodate?
Andy
Hi Andy,
Have a look here at all the reasons why Windows 7 SP1 may not be offered on Windows Update: -
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2498452
Looking at the specifications of your Vaio, it looks like you have the Intel Graphics Driver Version 15.17.0.2086 installed which is not one of the versions known to prevent SP1 being offered.
Please check the other reasons for this problem and if nothing fixes it then please check your Intel Graphics Driver version and post it back here and we will take it up with Sony.
I'm having the same problem with a vaio VPCEB4M1E. I followed all Ms instructions in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2498452 and it should appear, but still no SP1 in windows update
The graphics driver is ATI, so that cannot be the problem in my case

Ok,
I had a wee look at dxdiag and my installed Intel HD Graphics driver is 8.15.10.2141
I tried updating to the latest driver and firstly it refused to install stating that i should only use manufacturer specific graphics drivers for this machine.
So I uninstalled the driver and installed the latest Intel driver from scratch.
But after this the display went dim and would not brighten. It was bright when using the BIOS display driver but the minute the windows display driver is loaded it dims.
So i rolled it back to these 8.15.10.2141 drivers.
Bear in mind, this is a fresh, clean Windows x64 Ultimate install to avoid the turd that comes installed on these from the factory
Regards
Andy
Any chance of an answer from a Sony tech? It seems more people have the problem and it is NOT linked to the graphics driver. Today is 9-3, I just installed, using windows update, several patches, rebooted and still no SP1
Hi Jinjur, your model is not the only Vaio affected by this issue.
For a VPCEC3A4E I managed to install SP1 manually, for a complete report of this horrible procedure see
For a very similar VPCEC-something - two weeks older - I still hope that WU (Windows Update) handles the installation in April or May (= two monthly patch days) automatically. Otherwise I'll try the manual procedure again, after all I still have the two downloaded files (300 MB "check SUR" system update preparation, 900 MB SP1 for 64bits) .
Look at https://www.sony.co.uk/discussions/thread/121269?tstart=0, similar problem on another VAIO:
VPCEA3S1E.
jinjur + josverhoeff> Do you have uninstalled McAfee on your machines?
Maybe replacing it by Microsoft Security Essentials?
Because we are already two people in this case, and having the same SP1 problem, please look at:
On my Sony VAIO VPCEA3S1E, problem solved!
