Hi,
My current notebook is a Sony VAIO PCG-K115M and the DVD drive is Read only, however it's also a CD writer drive.
Is it possible to replace this internal drive with a DVD Writer instead? Do they yet exist or do i have to go external?
Many Thanks
Kristoff Bonello
Welcome to Cub Vaio Kristoff.
The K115Z has a DVD writer which no doubt would be compatible with your model. The problem is finding the model number of this particular drive.
Avoid Matshita like the plague!
Mmmh, I think it's uninteresting which manufacturer you use. (But never Matshita, like Kee-Lo said)
You a need a drive in Slim format. The only thing are the different covers. Because it could be ugly, if you use a other cover than the original.
A other option would be to use an external drive.
Finding the right one is another kettle of fish too
True
You could try QSI but I don't know if they only deal with Sony via an OEM agreement.
eBay is a good place to start
True.
The drive front does look removable too. If you remove the screws at the front it should theoretically come off the drive.
