Simultaneous recordings on XR-55A80J

Is it possible to have 2 simultaneous recordings taking place on the XR055A80J?

I have dual tuners, with both plugged in and working. I have connected and prepared a hard drive, and can record one channel at a time whilst watching another. However, if I try to record 2 channels at the same time, without watching either, one fails.

I ran the TV's built-in performance checker on the hard drive, and it says that performance means some features may not be available but not which ones nor why.

I haven't been able to use the support chat unfortunately. I am normally at work and unable to use it whilst it is open, and the once or twice that hasn't been the case it has still said "All our agents are currently helping customers, or the chat is closed."

Yep, I emailed but Sony haven't replied. That was around 11 or 12 days ago.

I have given up and bought a 2nd hand Humax box instead. It's such a shame that I have to purchase old, 2nd hand technology to do a job that Sony only half implemented.
