Hi, just bought a Sony Bravia 8 TV (K65XR80U).
this evening I went into BBC iPlayer to watch Wolf Hall all the episodes have a padlock symbol on them and when I click on an episode it just gives a description of the episode and no option to open the padlock. I do not have parental controls set on the iPlayer or TV. When I went into settings on the IPlayer on the TV under parental controls it said it was honouring settings in my device!
other shows didn’t have a padlock so it seems related to parental control!
fortunately I have an Apple TV connected so could watch it via this but I would like to unlock the programmes on IPlayer via the TV.
my tV is up to date in terms of software updates
any ideas to solve it?
thanks

Hi All, thank you for your suggestions. I have solved it. I had gone through Google Assistant mic and BBC iPlayer doesn’t support Google Assistant so when I thought I was looking at iPlayer I was just looking at google search results. When I clicked directly through to iPlayer from the TV menu there was no padlock. I had a live chat with BBC and they confirmed Google assistant isn’t supported by them so I will not be able to use it to open iPlayer. They are also waiting for Sony to request that all Bravia 8 TVs are certified by BBCiplayer to ensure we all receive the best possible service and experience
@egd1955 I suggest that you uninstall the updates of the Catch-up services App and try opening the BBC iPlayer from the Catch-up app, you can go to Settings > Apps > Catchup > Uninstall updates then Force stop. Let's see if that works for you.
It could also be the parental controls on the Google account linked to the tv, I'd check that too.
