I want to play genesis games on emulator app. 

I connect a generic game pad which is detected but the buttons go crazy when I try assign the buttons. 

How can I get my xperia x to accept this?

You will have to contact the emulator app developer regarding that issue.

My z3 worked fine though.

There's nothing wrong with your phone, its a compatibility issue
