Why does my battery die so quickly?

Hi,

I bought my Sony Vaio VPCEA1S1E only about 2 months ago. I was very keen on keeping the battery working as long as possible, so I've enabled the Battery care function, puts it on hibernate when I can, dims the screen lights, setting the charging point to 80% etc.

In the first month I could use the laptop on fully charged battery (not plugged to power source) for about an hour or more. Now it will die after 25 minutes (running only on battery), even if I have the power saving plan, no USB connected, not many background programmes running and so on.

(I use a USB keyboard and mouse very often though, while plugged in)

Is something wrong with the battery? Or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,

Tiffany

I only use my USB keybaord and mouse when my laptop is plugged into a power source.

Ooops my mistake..:smileyblush:

If you haven't changed the way that you use your Vaio then it may be worth contacting vaio support on Monday - Friday

Open Vaio support, either by clicking Support at the top of this page or use the following link:Vaio support

Under Log-in option 1: Enter your vaio models serial number, which you should find on the bottom of your Vaio.

Then click Log-In

Once logged select Get In Touch

Hi Tiffany,

welcome to Questions & Answers..:smileyhappy:

Try removing the USB keyboard and mouse, does the battery lenght increase if you use your vaio's keyboard and touchpad instead.?

Thank you.

I only use my USB keybaord and mouse when my laptop is plugged into a power source.

My query is about when I use my laptop running only on the battery.

Hi

In a seperate thread I've had similar problems and had to re-install the Sony VAIO Battery Checker software. If you've made any kind of update to your Windows software then you may also need to put back the Sony software.

Try running VAIO Care Recovery and Restore programme (from the start menu), use the Recovery option  - Reinstall Applications and Drivers – and re-installed the Battery Checker (check box option).

Perhaps first see my other reply message to see if there are any similarities

Vaio Battery does not seem to keep its charge?  (this has pasted into here as a link - if the link doesn't work try using the text to search the forum)
