I have had my Sony VPC-EB2C5E for about 7 months now and I have noticed that the battery life when unplugged is really poor. So poor that I reckon that there's a fault with my battery pack.
After plugging it to charge, it reads 'Fully charged' but once i pull the adapter out, the battery immediately falls to 80% even on the lowest setting on power saver mode. This apparently gives me 1 hour maximum on the lowest setting which is nowhere near the 2.5 - 3 hour average sony claims.
I don't use the battery very often and always remove it from the laptop when I don't need it to prevent from over charging it and reducing it's battery life.
Has anyone had this problem and have a solution to this? Should I contact Sony of a faulty battery?
Thanks.
It sounds like the Battery Care Function is activated. The default of this utility limits the charge to 80% in order to extend the life of the battery.
You can change this limit up to the full 100% in Vaio Control Centre.
Thanks for the reply. I checked the vaio control centre and Battery care function is not activated. The battery condition is still 'good' but it's still only yielding about 1 hour battery on 'full charge' and at the lowest settings.
Hi
In a seperate thread I've had similar problems and had to re-install the Sony VAIO Battery Checker software. If you've made any kind of update to your Windows software then you may also need to put back the Sony software.
Try running VAIO Care Recovery and Restore programme (from the start menu), use the Recovery option - Reinstall Applications and Drivers – and re-installed the Battery Checker (check box option).
Perhaps first see my other reply message to see if there are any similarities
Vaio Battery does not seem to keep its charge? (this has pasted into here as a link - if the link doesn't work try using the text to search the forum)
