Hello .
I have a VGNAR71M VAIO laptop with Vista installed .. I bought a blu ray disk movie from amazon UK (I m from Greece) and the laptop doesn't read it, whereas my PS3 does. (but the ps3 doesn't play it cause the disk is region A, which is weird :s )
Any way to fix this ?
Optical Drive is OPTIARC BD ROM BC-5500A
Driver version 6.0.6002.18005
Driver date 21/6/2006
I have searched for other drivers but I didn't find any newer ones from an official source.
The problem is that I want to watch the film , but apparently it's region locked to A whereas Europe uses B.
Strange cause I bought it from amazon in the UK..
I could have used many different ways to bypass the regional lock such as changing the corel windvd region settings or using anydvd but the drive simply will NOT read it. It's as if it's not there .
The PS3 does read the disk title and even shows the little thumbnail but it doesn't actually play the movie because it's the "wrong regional disk".
The movie is a criterion collection blu ray disk region A called "chungking express"
Thanks in advance .
EDIT: I found a newer driver and I am going to install it , but I still don't think this will fix the problem.

Does the drive play any Blu-Ray discs? Have you tried a Region B Disc?
Does the drive play DVDs and CDs?
What version of WinDVD BD do you have installed?
Are there any errors against the drive in Device Manager or does it say it is working OK?
Yes it plays other discs fine. Blu ray and not.
Also, the windvd version is
no errors in the drive, it just wont read this one disk
here is the log

It sounds like a fault with this one disc.
I would ask Amazon if they can replace it - preferably with a Region B disc.
