Hi,
I've had my Sony Vaio VGN-FS215Z from new and it's been great for more than six years. It runs XP and gives me just about everything I need.
Just recently the WLAN connection has started behaving strangely. The switch is on, green light on and the machine says it's connected to the Wi-Fi network with excellent strength. It should be, as the router is only a few feet away in the same room. But despite seemingly being connected, I can't get on the internet, send/receive emails or do anything. It works fine for other devices connected to the WLAN and my laptop works fine connected via the wired LAN.
It gives the same symptoms when trying to connect to other WLANs - says it connects OK, but won't allow any traffic. The wireless network connection shows lots of packets sent and received.
It always used to work OK, but I can't think what has changed. It is the same router that I have had for a couple of years and I tried disabling Norton Firewall, but that has no effect.
Any ideas of what is wrong and how I can correct it ?
Thanks
Rhys
By the way, the network connection is Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG
