Hi, I bought a new vaio VPCEA1S1E and few weeks later I accidentally got virus on it. I didn't manage to back up any data (I know there's a vaio programme for it), so I reinstalled Windows 7 (64bit) from a new CD.
I downloaded all the drivers I found on sony webpage -I guess- and almost everything works fine (except the assist button (does nothing) and vaio button-which now works as mute button)
BUT I cannot start the camera-there's no driver, no utility for it in my pc.
Everytime I start an application that searches for the camera (skype etc.), the system crashes and blue screen appears.
I'm considering switching to Ubuntu soon, so I have a question whether there is any chance to fix the camera now that I'm still on Windows cause I'm not sure how vaio downloads work with linux. Thank you.
OK, I magically no-idea-how managed to fix it! Thank you God Almighty!
Well done - that is good news.
The drivers for the camera are part of Windows and the camera should work with any Windows system.
I have no idea why it now works either but I am also thankful for you.
I don't know why it didn't work, it was normally displayed in the devices. But I think that the final solution was to update the driver.
