This is a problem with my dads sony viao.
Initially it came with windows vista, and it is my job to do a backup, i burnt all of his documents onto a dvd, and this was good because a week later the hard drive failed and had to be replaced.
However now the laptop has got XP on it my dad did not really like vista, its working fine except when i go to put a dvd in to do a backup the laptop doesnt recognise it as a blank dvd, it calls it a blank cd, and i cant erase it or format it, there is no option to burn the data onto the dvd.
Its a sony viao VGN-NR32M.
