Hi - Can't see to be able to find out from my Sony VGN-NW20ZF/S laptop whether I can increase the current 4GB RAM to, say, 8GB Ram. Can anyone help?
Further queries:
2. And if this is possible, is there somewhere to find out how to add the memory cards myself (or is it as simple as finding where they are located, and slotting new ones in/? Have done it before on a Dell laptop.).
3. If expansion is possible, will this likely mean that I will have to add, say, 2 x 4GB cards, and discard or try to re-sell the current 4GB?
Cheers.
Dan

Hi Dan,
The specifications say up to 8GB can be used: -
https://shop.sony.co.uk/shop/VAIO-Laptop-PCs/VGN-NW-/VGNNW20ZF/S.CEK
Instructions for fitting can be found from Page 97 in your User Guide here: -

It depends what is already fitted - 1 X 4GB or 2 X 2GB. You can just fit one extra 4GB to an existing 4GB but it is recommended to use matched pairs. I'm not sure how much difference this makes however and is probably a sales ploy!!

Cheers Blencogo, splendid info!
Just one question - when removing the existing memory, are the tabs to "push to the side" made of (white) plastic? If not, then I can't see anything else to push, as the "release mechanism" - and I am VERY careful when working inside computers. I have already had a look, and gently pushed these plastic tabs a bit, but what I have done so far has not released anything. Any advice?
Cheers, Dan
Hi Dan,
The 'Tabs' are just to lock the module in place and stop it coming loose. They fit into small notches in the memory module.
Just move these a few millimeters away from the module and pull the module out of the slot - this can take a good pull as the contacts hold the module quite firmly. When replacing the module these tabs will click into the notches locking the module in place
Make sure you earth your hands to prevent a static discharge.
