Hi all,
I have bought a VPCF13Z8E Sony laptop some days ago and when I started using it I faced several issues: awkward delays when browsing internet - even black screens when reading my gmails, USB 3.0 ports sometimes do not work, battery life is rather limited e.g. though the battery is fully charged and according to specs should have 2,5 hours duration, I noticed that it does not last for more than an hour, etc)
Thus I started searching diagnostics to find out the root cause and noticed that in the event viewer there are several errors and warnings before the purchase of my laptop. Is this normal?
Can anyone help me on the above issues? Since I bought the laptop only 8 days ago, I can still get it replaced by the store if there is a proven issue.
Thank you very much in advance for your time and effort,
Dimitra
Hi
WIth all those issues I'd take it straight back to the store!!
However, have you updated or re-installed the Windows software? If so you may need to put back / re-install the various Sony drivers and utilities ... this would explain why you have so many problems. Sony online will provide a list of things that your machine came with but you'll need to work it all out for your specific machine.
Perhaps, it may be that you only have 3 main problems
- online speed - is this your broadband?
- USB3 - new technology - check you have up to date drivers for all components using USB3?
- and battery ... In a seperate thread I've had similar problems and had to re-install the Sony VAIO Battery Checker software.
For the battery, try running VAIO Care Recovery and Restore programme (from the start menu), use the Recovery option - Reinstall Applications and Drivers – and re-installed the Battery Checker (check box option).
Perhaps first see my other reply message to see if there are any similarities
Vaio Battery does not seem to keep its charge? (this has pasted into here as a link - if the link doesn't work try using the text to search the forum)
Hi DVinatse,
I always carry out a system restore, back to factory settings, when purchased, whether second hand or from a store as you never know what has been added. To do this tap F10 at boot, when you see the Vaio logo. Be aware that you will lose all personal data and any third party programs that you have installed since purchase. You will then need to check for Windows and Sony Vaio updates but confirm that all is working as expected before doing so.
If this fails to sort out the various problems that you are experiencing then return the notebook.
