tried system restore... restore stops at 86% on number 2 cd...then message says...components missing....laptop wont do anything...please avise or help.kim x

Hi Kim,

Can you please check the correct model type of your Vaio.  Look on the screen surround - I think you have something like a PCG-FR102.

If that is the case, you have a fairly old Vaio there and the only way to carry out a System Reovery is to use the CDs provided.  You could try using another PC to make copies of the CDs and see if they work.  It may be possible to get replacements from Sony - if they still have any!!!

Can you give us an idea of the original problem to see if there are any other ideas for you.
