Notebook will not restore to factor settings. Please help. . .

I am trying to 'Restore Complete System' for my Sony VAIO (VPCW12S1E/T) but I get the message below.

'The operation was not completed. Shut down the PC, then try the operation again after restarting your system.

Error: 404'

No matter how many times I restart my notebook the recovery never works with the above message always showing.

Can anyone help? I bought the notebook second hand so want to delete everything and start the notebook from scratch. Please please help!!

Hi Gareth,

Error 404 is usually 'Webpage Not Found' when the internet connection fails.

Are you sure it wasn't "Error 403"?

Is definately 404 - at the top of the error message it says:

' An error occurred whileexecuting an application'

Is soooooooo frustrating -n any clues?
