FAN NOISE AND AR SERIES

Dear All,

I have sent a message before before even could not get one reply. Therefore I would like to repeat my question. I own AR51SU. I hear a constant noise coming from the fan. The noise gets higher when cpu is more harder but this is not my problem. My problem is the noise I hear constantly when the cpu is for a large share unoccupied.
I have compared the noise level to one of the old Vaio GR-390 and to a more recent B series.
They are considerebly more silent. The noise is not terrible but I am not supposed to ehar it I think.

My question is: Does anyone else hear the fan in any of the AR series?
Even if it is a little bit? With respect to your answer I will send the vaio to the service.

I can hear the fan on my AR although it's not too distracting..

I have contacted sony support but they told me that they cannot say anything without seeing the machine. Therefore I rely on the answers here. I dont want to send the computer for two weeks if it is not my problem. If this fan noise is common to all, then I will live with it.

Hence, other AR users, would very much appreciate if you can send a short reply indicating if you are experiencing the same problem.

it would appear that no-one has replied..

Have you asked a local stockist if you can listen to the fan noise of one of their AR display models, hopefully they will let you listen in a quiet area..

Replying 3 years later, almost to the day!  No, my AR (a 71 ZU) is almost completely quiet, just a very faint hum in the background  -  always, so far as I've noticed.

Mind, the room it lives in is not very warm.   Meg.
