Any One Help Me - Particularly Anyone With An RA Series Desktop

I have an ra304 and am very pleased with it.

it has two dvd drives as does any of the ra series.

the top drive, the dvd rw is silent when operating and works perfectly.

however, the second drive the, i think it is a dvd rom, well it is not a writable disc, when oprating e.g loading a disc it makes a horrible noise, i dont expect it to be silent but is almost like a CRUNCH noise.

can anyone tell me if they also experience this on their vaio desktop (ra series) and is it normal.

Makes the machine 3x louder than usual!

Lol wonder if its the Sony drive mountings. A loose mounting would make the drive rattle like around making a delightful din.

There is always the temptation to open it up and try to see if there is anything rattling...

After all they went through all that trouble to insert that water cooler to make it silent

Awwe mate. You said it doesn't sound as quiet as Sony make out it is.

You do have a nice looking bit of kit though.:smileywink:

Don' get me wrong it's a very nice machine, just it's not as good as Sony said it was in the blurb.

I know I saw it in Birmingham, but it was loud out there, and the weak fool I am.....................
