Front camera is not working.

I recently bought the Xperia m4 aqua dual as I was pretty impressed by its stats on paper but there are a few issues that have to be solved. Firstly I cant use my front camera. There is no icon for the front camera even in the camera application and also in other apps like retrica. I tried clearing the data but it wasnt effective enough. It would be really helpful if you could Solve this as soon as possible.

Hello , CameronT , i see you are an xperia expert , i tried everything to fix the front camera : safe mode , repair , clear data ...everything , and i still can't use it ... it doesn't even show that switch icon ... the icon appears in AR mode but if i click it my screens turns black and takes me back to normal camera , so just tell me if it is something that will be fixed with a future update or i should just ask for my money back ... it is very annoying , no other advice to do smth because nothing will work . i am waiting for an answer , thank you !

What you are saying CameronT is that ... I buy a brand new phone and i can't use all its features .. Ok .. So this is Sony , looks like it was a bad choice after all. Thank you .

I have an m4aqua and the selfie function button has disappeared from my screen. I can't rotate to use the front camera, any ideas?

Hello my Camera has stopped working

It stopped after I was taking pictures underwater.

This has never happened to me before and i dont know what to do. 

Whenever I try to open the Camera app it just shows a black screen then goes back to homescreen

I've tried:

-Clearing camera data

-booting on safe mode

-restarting

-using a "camera restarter"

-even factory reset

-Using third party camera apps

 EDIT: Tried software repair still doesnt work

Pls help I dont know what to do now

Hi. I have the same problem with the front camera icon. Have tried xperia companion to fix and tried safe mode. Neither have worked just got factory reset to try any ideas anyone. I have spoken with the Sony help chat but I think they have their heads buried in the sand on this issue.

The following DO NOT work as permanent solutions, they are only temporary fixes - the camera issue comes back:

- Resetting the phone with Xperia Companion software

- Booting in safe mode

- Taking it to a local shop for "hardware" repairs

This isn't a hardware issue, it's a software issue. I have an Xperia E2306 and have the latest firmware for this variation (26.1.A.3.111) and I still get front camera issues, as well as back camera issues, where the video only records sound and has a black screen.

I wish SONY would take this more seriously. I typically like SONY products, but this is ridiculous, especially since some people are seeing it in the Xperia M5, also. 

In the meantime, I bought an LG G4 online and am using that with 0 issues. I recommend trading this phone in and staying away from this line of SONY phones until/if the issue is fixed.

I've bought my Sony Xperia M4 Aqua three days ago on Amazon and my problem is the same as you...

After started it, I've launched photo app and front camera's logo wasn't there...

I've tried all solutions : clear data and restart, reboot safe mode, PCC... no way !

I'm very sad because it's a gift from my parents...

Hello ,

I have been following the posts regarding the front camera not working on the Experia M4 Aqua , mine too does not work now , no icon no nothing , followed all the steps and rebooted done everything.

I wish I had stuck with Samsung now , the help offered by Sony is minimal and unhelpful , it is obviously an issue yet there is no patch or fix being posted . Last time I buy a Sony phone .
