Sony STRDN1080 av receiver auto switches to front speakers only

Spoiler

I have a Sony STRDN1080 av receiver - I have two front speakers, and recently purchased a centre speaker. The auto setup and calibration went fine and I've set the sound field to A.F.D and the speaker setup to 3.0.

I also have my TV, Ps4, sky box, record player all going into the receiver.

When watching TV the audio settings automatically change and the words (Linear pcm 2.0) flashes across the amp. I go into sound settings on the TV and switch to home cinema (rather than TV). But this just repeats and repeats.

Any help is appreciated! As my sound is currently only coming from the front speakers no matter I seamingly do!

Hi Daniel,

Welcome to the community.

I'm just going to try to find some answers for you. In the meantime, maybe someone else in the community might have some ideas.

Thanks,

Pascale

Try setting the sound field to Multi Ch Stereo for all-speaker audio, since A.F.D. changes the processing method automatically according to the input and TV channels are almost never anything other than 2.0/Stereo if at all. Multi Ch Stereo will try to always use all connected speakers regardless of the input signal. I believe that's what you're looking to achieve?
