PS-LX5 TURNTABLE

I have a PS-LX5 TURNTABLE which was not used for many years. It has now been resurrected and to my surprise worked perfectly first time. Subsequently however the table starts to turn and then switches itself off, whether there is a record in place or not, and irrespective of the position of the rubber mat. 
can any one suggest a solution to this?

Hard to say. Could be a cold solder, mechanical problems or anything else.

I would recommend to send the turntable to an authorized repair centre for inspection.
