YouTube app

I watch the YouTube chanels via the app on my  Bravia TV, I was horrified to see some YouTube users have uploaded porn videos embedded in cute photographs of pets, this is totally unacceptable for families, my kids use the tv to watch music videos on YouTube and I was in the room with them and they saw a channel with a photo of cute dogs they clicked on it to watch and I had to race like a madman to grab the remote to swithc off the tv because a small window in the picture was showing an Asian couple having explicit sex....Sony....shame on you not to monitor this and shame on YouTube too, I have now removed the app from the tv nd I am busy removing other apps because of the content I deem unacceptable to youngsters, I am not a fuddy duddy but for goodness sake, porn on a Sony Bravia TV, no warnings and not mentioned anywhere else, You are helping cyber abusers corrupt our children Sony, so parents.....watch out....Sony are helping promote this stuff by not monitoring how their YouTube app selects videos to show......

Hi @Hepdog2 and welcome to the Community

I agree its terrible that people are disguising pornography as something else but have you reported the videos to YouTube so they can be removed? (So other children don't have to see it)

I understand you are upset however I personally think the responsibility lies with the individual uploaders and admin on YouTube more than Sony or any other TV manufacturers / users that have the YouTube app

I do think you have to be careful suggesting that Sony "are helping cyber abusers corrupt our children...so parents...watch out...Sony are helping promote this stuff by not monitoring how their YouTube app selects videos to show."

There is no evidence that Sony are deliberately promoting pornography. Plus if an individual circumvents any age restrictions or otherwise for their uploaded videos (by disguising the content) then Sony are surely not responsible for the actions of that individual.

(In no way am I defending those that wish to fool people and hide adult content in their video streams.)

I agree YouTube should keep a tighter grip on their content, however I do wonder how many people actually sit in their office monitoring videos. I guess not enough. 😞

Thanks for your post.

At least it lets our members know that there are some adult videos disguised on YouTube and they may decide they want to supervise their children more when they have acces to the net, either with the YouTube app or generally on PC's and mobile devices. (Which is a good thing.)
