Please would you tell me what the D shaped socket is for on the bottom of the DSC-WX350; is it for data transfer? If so, what type of plug fits this socket?
It appears that the charger lead fits in the side of the camera, but this is a slightly larger socket. I am used to camera where the data transfer and the charger use the same lead and socket.
I have changed the setting to Mass Storage, but Windows 10 still does not see the camera in File Explorer.
Unfortunately, that doe not fix the problem.
Only Windows 7 and Windows 8 are mentioned in the Sony instrucions. Should it be possible to transfer files to a Windows 10 laptop?
Unfortunately, my laptop does not have a card reader slot in the size. I tried putting the memory ino a Kingston adapter and plugging that into a USB port, but then Windows says that it needs to format it. I obviously don't want to format it and lose my photos. So I have a memory card with photos and videos on it, but no means of transferring them. I can view the photos and video on the camera okay so the memory card must be okay.
It could be the memory card damaged also if you can see on the camera.
Is possible that it has lost some format data, but the files are still inside.
Probably you need for a rescue software (usually the memory card brand supply any freeware software license with the card).
On the other side you should use a new memory card on the camera: any sign of data loss, is a sign of card deadlines.
Try a new card, insert on the camera, format on the camera, shoot some random picture, try now to download to your laptop
Just to remove the possibility that it might be your laptop, can you try it on another PC/laptop?
