Sony KD-48A9 UHD on BBC iPlayer stopped working

A recent update seems to have stopped the bbc iPlayer from playing UHD programmes. They worked fine before the update late November. Anyone else had similar issues and found a fix ?

New firmware released today 6.5016 installed on my 55XG9505 and pleased to report iplayer UHD now works fine

Same works fine for me now the upgrade has been applied. Result !

Well, further update to the IPlayer UHD issue. My TV is set to software auto download and I’ve checked that the software is up to date and despite the fact that Sony have responded to a review of the TV that I posted about iPlayer UHD content and said that I should download the latest software (which I have), it still doesn’t play, just titles and black screen. As before UHD plays ok when sound is through TV speakers, but when Sony sound bar is active, no go. So what do I do next Sony?

Hi. Have you tried unplugging the tv for 10 minutes and turning on again?
When all my iPlayer and other apps (utube etc) stopped working, that sorted that bit out.

Are you sure that you have 6.5016 installed, not sure it would have been auto downloaded yet. If not you will need to install it using the USB method

Thanks Rich_B I’ll give that a go tomorrow morning and report back ( too far into the wine now). Re previous advice, yes I’ve tried unplugging for 10 minutes then switched on again and that didn’t work , so I suspect that Rich may have a point and auto download may not have hit the latest software yet

Just press help on remote and look bottom left of screen ,current version is shown there.

Software version is PKG6.0414.0055EUA, so it does look like I need to manually update, thanks again Rich_B

Hi again Rich_B, I’m really happy to report that I’ve successfully download the latest software to USB, installed it and iPlayer UHD content plays perfectly with the Sony sound bar switched on, fantastic !

The “Dynasties” series picture quality is mind blowing, I’m well happy
