A recent update seems to have stopped the bbc iPlayer from playing UHD programmes. They worked fine before the update late November. Anyone else had similar issues and found a fix ?

Hi again Rich_B, I’m really happy to report that I’ve successfully download the latest software to USB, installed it and iPlayer UHD content plays perfectly with the Sony sound bar switched on, fantastic !
The “Dynasties” series picture quality is mind blowing, I’m well happy

I have seen other reports of this on this site. I also have the KD-48A9, also did the update recently that you mention, but find I can still play UHD content from BBC iPlayer.
It might be worth checking you have app updates enabled, and have all the latest components installed via the android Play Store.

If you open the Google Play store app, it will tell you if they are enabled automatically or not. If not - navigate up to the settings menu within this app and you can turn on automatic updates.
Also suggest select the 'My Apps' menu option from the top too - if you have any out of date apps on the TV they will be listed and you will also get an update option shown to update immediately.

Dunno if the KD-48A9 is the same but on XH series TVs, the iPlayer is integrated into the YouView app (on app list as Live TV and Catchup). I have app updates enabled, everything is up to date and on UHD iPlayer still doesn't work.
Is the iPlayer a separate app on the KD-48A9?
On mine the iPlayer reports in its settings/help section, that it is Application Version : 17.6.0.0 Big Screen Version: 4.5.2 Config Version: prebuilt-11.1.5 Device: SONY TV 2020 YOUVIEW A1
I've only had my XH series TV for about 6 weeks and only tried UHD on iPlayer about 2 weeks ago after a TV firmware update which others on here think caused the iPlayer UHD issues

I agree with @kdhuk66 the best thing to do is to report to Sony. In general, the checks that should be done are:
Software update
Updating the Live TV and Catchup app
Clearing the system cache (Settings - Storage and reset - internal storage - Cache - clear)
Factory reset

On my Kd-48A9 iPlayer details are:-
Application version: 17.7.6.0
Bigscreen versions 4.5.2
Build identifier: Tue Dec 08 2020 14:35:37
Framework version: 11.1.5
Config version: prebuilt-11.1.5
Device: SONY TV 2020 YOUVIEW A1
UHD content still working fine. And yes on the KD-48A9 iPlayer is a separate app, though does integrate with YouView also.

Hey thanks for this. My details are similar but app version is 17.10.0.1
so perhaps the different version may be the cause.
