Satellite tuner Sony BRAVIA KD55AF8BU

If not for freesat ... what are they for?

Freesat is, in effect, an EPG (Electronic Programme Guide) for selected satellite channels.

These sets still tune in satellite channels (and potentially lots more than Freesat), but all you get by way of a guide is the standard Now & Next that the channels supply.

I went into Richer Sounds in the UK, to purchase a Samsung NU8000.  The sales guy persuaded me this was a much better (and more expensive) TV.

I checked it had satellite, I never expected for one second for it not to support fereesat. I also cant get 4od working without using youview, which I cant get to work as I have no aerial on my house.

The picture is far superior to the Samsung  (in my opinion) , but for a tv costing £1000, I would have hoped to have easy access to 40d and either a Freesat EPG or be able to make my own (like I can on my linux sat box).

I hope Sony reconsider this, had I known when in the shop, I would have gone fot the Samsung, now I have the TV home, I like the picture so much, I'm scared to return it as I doubt the samsung will look as good.

I have got 4od working, have to connect a normal aerial just to do the initial scan, then it works
