Ridiculously slow boot

Since Xmas, our new 55AG8 has exhibited the following. After power up, sound is heard after 2-3 seconds, picture arrives several lambing seasons later, typically 6 minutes, worst case 11mins 22secs. Normally network connection is Wi-fi but tested using wired LAN, absolutely no difference. Performed Factory reset - no change, software is up to date according to TV. Have reported to Sony, but they have suggested a software upgrade which my tv says is not necessary - who is telling porkies then?

wireless network speed 600+ Mbps, internet download speed 50-55Mbps.

Android Oreo 8

Anyone come across this before?

many thanks

It doesn't.mean nothing what the tv tells. Check it you have the latest firmware https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/oled-tvs-android-a8g_ag8-series/kd-55ag8/downloads/000164...

I have the exact same problem. If TV is in standby for more than 30. When you turn back on the TV it goes through a full reboot of android, takes about 60 seconds for the TV to become responsive and present the home screen. I have updated the firmware via USB from Sony customer care. Not resolved and Sony don't care, abysmal service on a TV a few months old costing over £1200.

Sometimes the TV is unable to see an update, it's usually if the update is too recent, or if it was not connected to the Internet during the rollout phase or just a software glitch.

I checked the product page for your model and the latest version is 6.6555 according to this: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/oled-tvs-android-a8g_ag8-series/kd-55ag8/downloads/000166...

It's also a good idea to factory reset the TV, in case a corrupted setting or file is causing the issue.

- Quick Edit: If you're still having an issue after all this, maybe an external device is causing the issue, a "handshake" is not happening correctly; for that, you'll need to disable Bravia Sync, clear any cached data then restart the TV and see if it works.

I've had the same problem too. After 4 months of emails/calls Sony have finally agreed to send me a replacement TV.

It has been incredibly frustrating and the customer experience from Sony has been shocking.

Thanks for that, so it wasn’t just our imagination! Frankly, We got so fed up with the problem that we ditched the Sony and got an LG instead, much, much, much better!

This is known issue with Sony Product Engineering. I’ve been experiencing this issue for sometime (it’s been 6 months since I purchased the TV (Sony KD-55AG8)). Having spoken with Sony support they have confirmed the engineering team are working on a software release to resolve the slow start-up when coming out of stand-by. Outside of saying it’s a priority they are unable to confirm when the software will be available. They have recommended to have the TV set to auto updates so it’s applied automatically once released.
My current software release is PKG6.6575.0259EUA.
