Bravia X80J and HTC 290/291 intermittent ARC audio connection

Having originally sent the X80J back in August following the catch up app issue, I finally decided to re-buy it on 21/12 when these became available.  Now, when I have the TV connected to the HTC 290/291 soundbar and woofer via HDMI3 ARC, every now and again it cuts out to TV speakers, then back to audio system, then back to TV speakers etc every 10 seconds or so.  It does seem to eventually stick with audio system in most cases.  Have noticed when using disney + that it really does not like this and ends up saying 'audio system failure etc' which then really messes with the whole sony bravia sync. 

 

Anyone got any ideas?  This even happens with no other devices connected via HDMI except the ARC cable.  I am using a high speed sony HDMI lead.  I used to use this soundbar and cable no problems with an older 2014 Bravia that I got rid of.

 

It's incredibly frustrating for what should be so simple. I'm using same brand components so can't work out what the issue could be.  I've tried all of the resets, have changed audio to PCM as suggested online, but this seems to make no difference.  X80J is on the latest update required in order to push through the catch up apps.  I also can't get rid of audio narration on 4oD, but that's a different issue altogether!

Also, try to re-install the soundbar through the settings in ''inputs'' once more.
