Blue smudge/haze on screen

I bought my Sony Bravia A1 OLED TV in January 2018, it has a 5 year warranty.

This week I’ve noticed a blue smudge/haze in the middle of the screen, it looks like lots of vertical lines and really disturbs the picture.

Does anyone know what this is before I contact Sony/Curry’s PC World?

I have the same problem the flesh tone of a face that passes through this patch turns a shade of green, I contacted Sony support and was told that it was probably image retention, I  only use this tv for normal viewing content nothing with a static image that would cause retention, plus I have only used the standard picture mode not vivid so I can’t see how this problem is image retention, it seems that the red pixel is not working with in the patch due to images that do not require red are fine. You will be required to send images of screen with red yellow and green screen.

I am still waiting a reply from Sony after sending photos of my screen.

hope this helps.

Hey @Shippa89,

I believe the TV is suffering from a burn in the panel.
You can try to do a panel refresh, see if it helps: https://bit.ly/3EdBxiE.

Hopefully this helps.

Thanks for your comments, I have just received a message from Sony and they will replace my A1 for a equivalent spec model so it’s a good outcome.

Hi @audioone

It may be useful to the community to lay out the procedure you followed to get a result. 😀
