yeah i agree then that theres something very wrong with sony and the bbc if it is doable
just noticed something very odd now, just about to retest my youtube findings and when i try and play 4k hdr footage i have tested before it only plays in 1080p now no 4k quality options or anything, even fired it up on my pc and its fine, full fat 4k.
https://youtu.be/LXb3EKWsInQ thats the link. something very funny going on god knows if its sony or youtube or both but 4k 30fps hdr clips still play.
Latest YouTube for Android TV 2.03.04 app indeed introduced some new issues. Playback does not go beyond 1080p/720p. Just check out latest user reviews on the Google Play Store. Google is not any better than Sony. Android TV is just a very bad and poorly supported platform.
well thats wrongs from them as iv just played 4k30 hdr stuff fine but anything 4k60 drops to 1080 it seems. the joys of tv ownership.
They might cap 60p because they can't properly play it back at a high resolution. That's how they fix stuff. Sideload Smart YouTube TV and it will go all the way up to 2160p60 in a buttery smooth way. It's a shame how Google treats their own platform.
well from now on il be using the screen as a screen more than anything outside of netflix that is. maybe after iv moved it later in the year and sorted out the living room setup il have a mess with it again.

I need to check this out again as it is installed but since I could cast HDR from the phone I haven't bothered, might be time to check it out again.
Kodi runs like garbage on the ATV TVs, but the native iPlayer seems ok for me on my XE90.

Hi Stormy, just wanted to clarify are you saying that the iplayer app on your XE90 is able to get the bbc hdr football and tennis?btw re Kodi I personally wouldnt use the built in app on our tvs I'm not sure how much ram our Tv's have. an external box is definitely the way to go imo. ive got an nvidea shield tv connected to mine, however im not able to access the bbc hdr content using the iplayer app on that either. Im having to usete iplayerapp in my Virgin V6 box to view that content.
No, the TV does not support it UHD iPlayer as has been discussed at length here. I mean the application performance is fine with the content that is available.
