This is my second Sony Android TV. The first 55” operation got slower and slower to respond to commands.
Bought a KD-65A85 after getting rid of the old model. Nice OLED TV and great to use for the first 3 months.
Now unless I reboot it daily it gets slow to respond to any commands and many of the discovery tab images do not even download.
NETFLIX just has the N and the red circle of death beneath it and may load after 2-3 minutes, or it may not load at all.
If I don’t reboot (either soft or pull the plug) it becomes unusable.
Have been dealing with Sony support who after 2 months back and forth have decided it needs repairing.
Personal I think it is the software.
UPDATE ……..
Just had a call from a Sony repair centre and they have ordered parts and will come out and fit them when they arrive.
So we will see, apparently this will take several weeks.
Hello @ TWoody2,
Sounds like a hardware issue. Keep us updated with the repair outcome, fingers crossed.
…Update
I’ve now had the motherboard (for want of a better word) replaced.
After a few days it is back to most of its old habits:
Not fixed:
* Both HOME tab and EXPLORER tab often have blank thumbnails or are very slow to download
* Slow/Laggy respond to remote commands and moving around the screen
* Still losing control of my Humax HDR-1100S TV box/recorder
* Having to REBOOT every 1 or 2 days to clear it
Fixed:
* Netflix seems to be working ok
Further info:
My broadband speed is a steady 43mb download
I have decided to upgrade to FTTH 150mb downloads, see if that makes any difference 🤞🏻
