How do you change settings of AF method from phase-detect to contrast AF in Sony a580?

To change fours mode to contrastnbased, you need to press [MENU] then goto [Camera 2] then you should see something about AF Mode allowing you to switch.  Hope that helps.

Hi watashi, thanks for answering my inquiry, but the AF method in the MENU Camera 2 is not highlighted, set on phase-detect and cannot be switched. I was wondering if you might know how to highlight it so that it can be switched to contrast AF. Thank you.

I suspect the restriction is due to the viewing mode. Test in live view and in optical view modes. Good luck.

thanks for the help guys, i think i found the problem to my inquiry, contrast AF only works with SAM and SSM lens, i have DT 18-250 so it cannot be set, thanks again
