Laptop to TV

Hi, I have a fairly old Laptop VGN-FS415M and I want to connect it to the TV, I have the right cables installed and when I switch on the Laptop I get the Vaio Logo and Windows XP startup on the TV then it goes blank and says there is no signal. There obviously is a signal of some sort, is there anything else I should do does anyone have any ideas???

I presume you are connected by a VGA Monitor Cable?

Have you tried pressing Fn+F7 to toggle from the Vaio screen to the TV.
