Constant Disk Activity

Hi

I have a VGN-NS20Z running Vista and the disk activity light is constantly flashing on and off about 2 or 3 times per second even when no applications are running.

I have checked previous posts and can find a reference to switching File Indexing off, but it is already off.

I'm not happy with this as it is causing wear & tear on the HDD.

Does anyone have an idea how I can rectify this, please?

Hi Dave,

Unfortunately, it could be several things.

Have you checked your Anti Virus?  Some of these programs are set to scan your hard drive when the system is idle.  See if there is a setting for active scsanning that you can turn off. Try disabling your AV program and see if the same activity happens.

There are some more good ideas to try here: -

Sounds like a good idea, I'll try your suggestion when I get home from work tonight.
