Hi all
Please feel free to put in any requests for future updates and features you would like to see added. Of course we can't promise that we can deliver on all of them as there may be technical/commercial/resource limitations, as to why they aren't possible, but everything will be considered.
Thanks

Re-enable sticky tag
All I want right now Sony is one small update for the KDL-46NX713. I ask just for a separate option to turn off the "Key Tone", because I quite like the startup sound but find the key tone irritating. Please fix this for my telly Sony
Re: Support for Freeview Channels 110-113 using MHEG5-IC
My KDL-40EX713 (late 2010 model) using latest firmware PKG4.107 does not support D Book 6.2.1 and cannot therefore recieve these streams.
Can anyone from Sony discuss their plans for this, please?

Hi, I also cant find in my 46EX720 remote last channel button, why this is missing?
Second my problem: in preferred subtitle languages meny I cant select finnish subtitles and probably for this finnish subtitles are missing.
I recently purchased a 40NX723....
Such a expensive TV and it can not recall the last channel in Freeview!!! Huge let down.
Looking at the RM-ED044 remote the Return button does nothing when viewing a channel so this would be an ideal button to action it.
Please update it!
Most frustrating is that I used my older Sony TV remote from my other TV and it can do exactly that to my NX723!
Also the light sensor in the enabled TV's is not very effective, it seems to not change from when my room is pitch black, with the bed side light on or with the main light on.
Otherwise I love my NX723, such a nice menu system.
Hi there,
I have recently purchaced a 40CX523, an awesome TV for its price brice bracket! I would like to propose the following features, although many of them are already mentioned in this thread.
1) USB record to support USB memory stick devices smaller than 32GB
2) USB recorded files to be readable on a regular PC.
3) USB media player to be able to read NTFS, as FAT32 only supports max 4GB files.
4) Ability to record/play direct to NAS drives
5) 4OD/ITV player support
6) Flash player in browser support
7) Ability to plug in a USB keyboard
😎 MKV container file playback support but with existing codecs (should not require more CPU power as the streams are the same)
9) USB recording from the EPG should use the name of the program being recorded and not the one immediately before it (S/W BUG)
10) Using the navigational keys to browse EPG channel and Time in a similar fashion to SKY, i.e. without having to go into the Guide view.
Thank you,
Kashav.
how many firmware updates since oppening post, and the only thing they have changed is that they separated key tone from startup tone. BRAVO slowNY
never again
+1 for the USB keyboard on Bravia internet TV's. It's just not reasonable to expect anyone to use the remote to type in web searches, url's etc. My several years old RDR-HXD870 HD recorder thingy can accept a USB keyboard, so want can't my much younger (and supposedly internet ready) KDL-37EX503?
I'm sure this just needs a firmware upgrade, so come on Sony, get it fixed!
Give up asking for anything as Sony take no notice of even the most simple and reasonable requests!!
As a manager of a software development team I know that anything is possible given infinite resources. In the real world however we never have the resources we would like and have to prioritise customer feature requests and bug fixes versus new ongoing development.
Then when you do make changes you have to regression test the old features to make sure that the old working features still work as they did, as well as the new whizzy exciting features. This all takes an immense amount of time to get right - or you end up with no features working properly, and some really upset customers.
I'm sure Sony is no different as a large company delivering code to run on complex products (often across multiple product lines) to a small software house writing specialist code such as the one I work for.
In my opinion the important job is about setting expectations and providing customers with feedback about when and what to expect, and not promising the earth and delivering nothing.......
Some decent release notes though when a new firmware is released would be useful 😉
Hi Quick Response
Correct - indeed if everyone was making any money from selling consumer electronics devices then this wouldn't be a problem. But as we have seen from the recent demise of Best Buy, Comet being sold off, plenty of independent retailers going out of business and the general malaise on the UK high street, its pretty tough out there.
I think I have commented on a bunch of the submissions already and new features do continue to be added, like Wi-Fi direct and You Tube HD. Of course I'd love to add many of the features noted on here, but as you understand, its not an overnight job and sometimes its just not technically possible like .mkv support on this years models. This thread is about engaging with real world users and giving you a voice in telling us what's important, but doesn't always mean that engineering will be able to implement on the current lineup of products.
Thanks
