I bought a pair of WF-1000XM4 headphones a couple of years ago because I wanted really good noise cancellation. From the start, I was surprised by the poor noise cancellation quality. For example, it doesn't even manage to block out children's cartoons at a normal volume. It does block out loud noises, and you can hear that the noise cancellation is on when you put the headphones on. I thought it was just a bad purchase, but now I'm starting to wonder if it be a manufacturing defect?
Hey there, the noise-canceling function is effective in low frequency ranges such as aeroplanes, trains, offices, near air-conditioning, and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices.
