vgc-v3m desktop

:slight_frown: I am experiencing crackling problems which is constant as soon as I log in, on my vgc-v3m desktop (just out of the guarantee) Has anyone experienced this? I am wondering if it is a battery problem. I have tried switching off and on several times but this has not cured the problem.[email protected]

Hi horatio1,

I presume the crackling is coming from the speakers? If so, it sounds like a poor electrical connection or interference from an external source like a mobile phone.

Can you give us a bit more information?
Did this start suddenly?
Have you made any changes or attached any new equipment?
Is your Vaio close to any other electrical equipment?
Does it still do it if you turn down the sound volume?
Have you tried headphones to see if it still happens?

I had exactly the same probelm with my VGC-RA104. The noise got worse when you opened a program - exactly as if there was interference being picked up by the speakers.

My desktop was under warranty so I took it back and they fixed it - apparently it had happened to a few PCs!

From what I could gather it was a problem with the cable connecting the computer to the supplied speakers. Try an alternative cable first (eg from the headphone socket to a stereo) before splashing out on a repair bill...
