I have a sony vaio PCV-V1 desktop. As im aware it does not have bluespace software as standard unlike notebooks. I bought a Belkin USB bluetooth adaptor and tried installing it , but the computer is not recognizing the new hardware when I plug it in. I followed the instructions and installedthe software first. I took it to my mates house and it worked on his toshiba laptop no probs. Any idea of what I need to do?
Do you have Windows SP2?
Belkin, problems? Surely not. With so many contributors praising them :smileywink:.
SP2 could help as it's got a new wireless connectivity applet in control panel.
A colleague had similar issues with a Belkin part - think he returned it and replaced it with a TDK gizmo.
Anyway problem could be USB oriented - is the dongle even seen on the USB bus? Have you browsed down through the Device Manager to check? I've heard of erroneous USB port setup where power is turned off to the ports - could be worth a check. Again, use Device Manager to browse down to the USB root hubs and right click on Properties, check the Power Management tab. On a V1 make sure that the "Allow computer to turn this device off....." option is unchecked - it's a bit pointless on a desktop.
To run device manager - [Start]-[Run]-type devmgmt.msc-[click-OK]
Thanks for your help guys. Going to send it back.It is not being recognized but all ports are powered up. Lets hear it for BELIKN.............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BOOH!!!!!
