Sony YB for sale in the UK??

As per the title, does anyone know whether the Sony YB 11.6" screen laptop will be available for sale in the UK??

I am looking for a small, light laptop, good on battery to take travelling with me. A 10.1" netbook is too small, and the 13.3" S series is too large.

I've had two emails from Sony support, one saying that it won't be, and the other saying that it used to be on sale here, but was no longer, strange that considering it's a brand new laptop. Usual rubbish from support.

Hi Dave,

Yes the YB-Series laptops were available in the UK for a short period but like some other Vaios (including the VPCSA-Series) and many other Sony Products (like the 650 Reader), some have been withdrawn or are in very short supply following supply problems in the wake of the Japanese earthquake disaster.

The YB-Series Vaios are still being offered for sale in the USA - so it looks like Sony have concentrated what stock they do have there.

I don't think we will get an answer to your question until Sony can see a clearer picture of the production and supply capabilities.

Thanks for the reply. I understand the problems that they may be facing. It's disappointing that they do not seem to have a laptop to satify this market, oh well, Dell/HP here I come!
