Hi,
I recently bought a Vaio VGN-FE21B notebook and I am having a bit of a problem with it. When doing a number of things, including minimising/maximusing windows, scrolling with the side of the touchpad and playing some games (often just on the title screen), my notebook makes a strange screeching or grinding noise. I'm not sure which component it's coming from. Is this normal or is there a problem with it?
Thanks,
Nick
I would contact Vaio-Link. Doesn't sound right to me . . . .
Hi Nick - welcome to Club Vaio.
Try turning off "Smooth Scrolling" - this can cause Audio distortion when scrolling. I'm not convinced it will cure your problem but it is worth a try.
See this MS KNOWLEDGEBASE page.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Turning off "smooth-scrolling" has stopped the noise when scrolling in Internet Explorer. However, the noise is still there in other situations. I've started a new case with Vaio-Link for it. Hopefully they'll be able to suggest something, but if anyone has any more suggestions I'll be happy to try them!
