Power light won't turn off?!

When I shut down my laptop (Sony Vaio VPCEF2E1E 17") everything shuts down fine but the green power light will not turn off even after unplugging from mains power. Everything appears to be normal at the moment but I'm concerned this problem may hint at something quite wrong.  I'm fairly competent when it comes to fixing computer issues having done it at my last job but have never come across this happening before.

Please help!

It is obviously a fault and will probably need the switch replacing.

There is power 24/7 to the power switch to be primed for switching on.  The LED is probably shorting across the supply rather than the switched circuit.

I would contact Vaio Support to discuss the way forward.
