My vaio getting too hot???

Could anyone tell me what is the normal CPU temperature for Vaio? I just download the Mobilemeter and said the temperature is 68c and the HDD#O (what is that??)is 47c.

For 68c is it too hot? Fun keep running hard all the time:smileycry:

This does appear to be on the high side but average temperature is model dependant.

Let us know your Vaio model and we will be able to advise you more accurately…

As already said above, this temperature sems to be on the high side a bit but still okay.

Do you keep running processor-intensive tasks? Check your task manager under Windows, at how much % is your processor running?

Another thing I´d do is click Start - right-click on My Computer - Properties and check the processor speed when the computer is idling. Is it always at the maximun? If so, try using the "Portable/Laptop" energy scheme under Control Panel - Energy Options.

Hope that helps.....

Isn't that laptop using a desktop CPU?
In that case I'm not suprised

Hi thu2000 and thanks for your reply

I check the window task manager and the CPU usage is 2% and the PF usage is 170MB and the total handles is 6712, threads 328 and processes 34. I also take your advice and change the power engry to portable/laptop but its keep jump back to the power suite sccheme setting and wonder why is that:smileysad:

Hi gsweetieuk,

As Kee-Lo correctly points out your model does indeed use a desktop processor that is designed to run at a much lower temperature than a notebook processor. 68c is far too high for your model and you are no doubt experiencing a slowing down of the system due to passive cooling kicking in at that temperature.

I suggest that you initially try clearing/cleaning the cooling vents with compressed air (you will find several links for the process on this forum). If that has no effect then it may be necessary to disassemble the notebook to carry out a thorough clean. If you are uncomfortable with this procedure then maybe a local PC repair company will be able to assist.
