How can I get to work external USB audio device on Vaio VPCEL?

Hi all,

I hope somebody know a solution. I have a very new Sony Vaio Laptop with Windows 7 64 bit pre-installed. Mostly sometimes after a lot of strugle ;( I got everything to work except for an external USB Audio device. The internal audio device works okay. To be more specific, built-in audio is a Conexant Smart Audio HD device and the external USB audio device i want to use as well is a USB-SPDIF converter M2Tech Hiface with its latest driver installed version 1.0.3. It shows up in the audio device manager, it does show in Mediaplayer and Foobar as an available audio device and lets me choose it as the output device. But when selecting the HiFace in either Windows Mediaplayer or in Foorbar audio files will not be played and both player will hang immediately from the  first second in the soundfile.mp3, Have checked, the file does play through the built in audio system. Also I had to disable all Windows sounds otherwise the Vaio/Windows 7 will hang during shutoff. Have already tried http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/help/no-sound-in-Windows to na avail.

All suggestion you might have are highly appreciated.

cheers,
rudi
