What does a purple light on the home button mean?

I've had my phone for only a few months, and I have never seen the purlpe light before. Now it just won't go away. What does it mean?

I have done nothing to my knowledge. I'm just wondering if it is a problem, like a bug or warning.

you can always backup your phone and repair it with SUS or update to ICS
