Bought Xperia Acro S today. It was a very good phone, well satisfied with it. Not until I installed Quickpic (3rd party picture viewer). And to my surprise, the pics from the Album app and Quickpic are exactly the same in terms of color saturation, noise and contrast! WHY is that SONY?

I have had Xperia ARC and RAY for a year or so, then sold the ARC because of the "CRACK" near the sensor. Got Samsung GSII with a horrible screen which I dont wanna look at, then sold it after 3 days and made me go back to SONY. But til this time after reading several comments, a lot of people noticed that the mBE is not working and Sony is not giving any CLEAR answer or solution for the issue.

I had about 20 SE phones and this is the first real Sony phone I have, please don't disappoint me. Any moderator or Sony Exec, please give me a reasonable answer for this query.

I have a locked bootloader and MBE is working fine

I have locked bootloader (and never have it unlocked) and MBE is NOT working on ICS

I have a brand new Xperia S (12W31), bootloader locked, with ICS out of the box, and BE isn't working :smileysad:. I'm quite frustrated because this is my second Xperia S and I used to love this boost in contrast and saturation.

At first I thought this was because of a lower screen quality, but later I realized that this is a problem with the BE.

It is working fine for videos though, which can be clearly seen when alterning between S/W and H/W decoding in third party video players.

Johan, can you please update us on this problem? Is Sony working on a fix, yes or not?

Edit: Sorry, I mistyped. I did not unlock the bootloader.

Yes, I have the same problem with ICS without bravia engine. I have unlocked bootloader. Are there any solution Johan?

Hi, got my xperia S with Gingerbeard, but updated it to ICS the following so I didn't paid attention to the MBE.

But taking into account all your coments, no I've looked at my photos with and with out the MBE and honestly, I can't see any difference!! Too bad it is not working

I have bootloader LOCK.

You want me to take a picture, or post screenshot of the preloaded pictures that are in the phone,¿? (with and w/o BE)

you don't need the usb cable, take the screenshots > email them to yourself or upload them to fb or Google+ and then post them. remember one with the bravia engine on and another with BE off, any picture should do it.

Here you go, both pictures are screenshots of the original image that was preloaded in the phone.

Uliwooly, this will sound embarassing but, now that I'm looking at the pictures in my PC, I can see the difference. But I swear I dindn't in my phone. Guess I have to apologise with Sony.

So...this prooves MBE works on ICS, is there anything I can do to help? Anything you want to know about the configuration of the phone?

well as you can see BE does work now how low is the brightness on your phone? the difference between the BE on/off its proportional to the brightness of the screen also the battery will drain faster
