Is it true that AT&T will not push the Jelly Bean Update for the lt28at?

I finally got an answer from AT&T. I copied this from the email they sent me.

We will release the update for the device after Sony releases it but at this time we do not have a date.

This probably means that it's going to be a while, but at least they are going to let us have it. 🙂

Don't listen/trust AT&T, they will always try to blame others, either phone manufacturers or the user, ATT has a horrible reputation releasing updates. but this time they are correct, the update for the Ion will BEGIN rolling out by the end of May. now after that ATT has to add their bloatware > re-test the software and then eventually release it.

Yeah, I know. It took me over a week to get them to give me this answer. They kept giving me the run around, trying to avoid answering the question. If it wouldn't void my warranty, I would probably root and install a custom ROM. I guess I'll just have to be happy with what I'm getting, even if it does take until 2014.

not quite, you don't have to root or go for a custom ROM, just wait for Sony to release the update somewhere in the world and update your phone, it will work just fine, just whenever you flash don't flash the baseband and LTE will work.

So you're saying that I don't have to root in order to flash? I've never done either before, and frankly, I'm afraid of bricking my phone. Os this also true with custom ROMs? XZXperience has kinda caught my eye, but like I said, I'm afraid of screwing up.

as long as you don't unlock your bootloader you should be ok, your phone its locked to ATT so you can not unlock the bootloader, if something goes wrong just repeat the process or repair your phone with SUS or PCC.

it seems complicated, but its quite easy.
