XD9305 - Loss of all power

XD9305 - Loss of all power

Hi - Has anyone experienced a loss of power on the new XD9305?  Having switched TV off as normal yesterday, it is now dead.I have checked power and I have checked fuse - a 10Amp one and still nothing.I have also tried the button at the back and the remote ( and changed batteries).

Very frustrating as having bought the latest TV Sony have out ( in June), less than 6 months later TV is dead.

My TV died on over the weekend, second time since purchasin in April 2016.

got repaired first time with a new DPS board, but has got the same fault again.

Engineer is coming tomorrow, not happy tho!

hoping for an upgraded replacement unit.

My first TV died after 7 months & was replaced by Sony (they chose not to repair, as the DPS board was out of stock), now after a further 6 months the replacement tv has a picture fault (odd horizontal lines about an inch from top of screen).

Sony not at all interested... they say the guarantee has expired. The current tv is only 6 months old but they calculate the date from the first purchase. Thankfully I bought the tv from Costco with a 5 year guarantee... they have just refunded me the fill amount paid.

Time to look at a different manufacturer now. I will never buy Sony again... even when this tv was working, it was slow & buggy.

I don't know if this is related but my KD-55XD9305 has failed. The screen dissolved into dark coloured vertical lines. I bought it new in February 2017. I reported the fault to the company I bought the TV from and they very quickly picked it up and left me a loan TV. They are an authorised Service Centre so nothing to do apart from wait for it to be repaired. However reading the large number of posts on here about problems with the XD9305 I am now very concerned this will happen again and again. I have been buying Sony TVs for the last 30 years and they have always outlasted my desire to upgrade (at least 5 years) but apparently this KD-55XD9305 appears to be a dud. :frowning2:

You guys might also want to read my observation of the standby behavior. This might sooner or later upset the power supply or other components.

We’ve had our  XD9305 for less than a year and it has died again after it being fixed in June.  No power at all. Really tried to convince Sony support to replace the TV but no joy as 2 failures in less than 12 months is a joke. They argued they have to send an engineer to establish the problem and I know what will happened they will replace the board and leave me with a working TV.  I am absolutely gutted as. Have lost all confidence in the TV and really regret my decision as it is buggy as anything even when I can power it on! Never buying a Sony TV again.

Listen Will... Do you want to be in the position of this cycle of your TV dying twice a year, every year until it's out of warranty, then Sony can wash their hands off you?

Thought not, then grow a pair, get your animal instincts out and insist on a replacement. Don't be walked over by Sony. This TV model is plagued by issues, DPS board being the main one.

I went through all this last year. You need to go all out on Sony Support, get pas their there bog standard customer support and get to the Higher tier support, only then will something get done.

If it doesn't, then get set for a Court claim against Sony. It's the only way these companies learn.

If you listen to my advice, don't let them replace it with the equally slow XE model, get a refund and enjoy life the LG way.... Trust me, there is no going back to Sony after this.

You might find the terms of the warranty or CCA state they have to be given one chance to repair or replace BUT I'd still go for full refund or an upgrade as the 2016 unit it inherantly floored and there are 100's who you can quote from Good Luck..... my first xd9305 went a week before Xmas too !!!

Under UK law you have the right to reject a second repair in favour of a
refund (less a small usage charge if they insist).

When mine went for the second time, I rejected a repair & received a full
refund.

Good luck.

That's all well and good so long as you get a second fault to refuse a repair on. I had the power fault and it went away to RRC for repair whilst being repaired they damaged the unit and returned the unit working but badly damaged. Sony replaced the set with an exact same new model which broke down with s power issue. I got this exchanged (after repair) with a 2017 XE559305 and I am ok with it. I'd never buy Sony again but the upgrade itself was a bit of compensation (plus the compensation they paid me)
