XD9305 - Loss of all power

XD9305 - Loss of all power

Hi - Has anyone experienced a loss of power on the new XD9305?  Having switched TV off as normal yesterday, it is now dead.I have checked power and I have checked fuse - a 10Amp one and still nothing.I have also tried the button at the back and the remote ( and changed batteries).

Very frustrating as having bought the latest TV Sony have out ( in June), less than 6 months later TV is dead.

Hi all,

Thanks for all the helpful responses.

I do intend to fight till the bitter end.

I have contacted Which? Legal Services, who have recommended that I should initially pursue my claim with the retailer, John Lewis, and have helped me draft a letter to send by email, with a receipt request.

I have sent this to the Head of Customer Services, and await a response within 24 hours.

Hi Remblance,

I had written to them quoting just that!

Surprising that the lady who responded wasn't aware of a problem with this poarticular model.

Anyway, waiting to see what happens next.

Update

Engineer turned up and replaced DPS board----works!

Wrote to JL with help from the Consumers Association, rejecting the TV as not fit for purpose.

They have accepted!!!

Will be upgrading to the A1 and paying the balance.

Good work John Lewis👍

That's a rubbish reply from Sony. I had a XD9305 that died after 3 weeks. Whilst being repaired it was damaged. Sony replaced it with a new XD9305 which died a couple of months later. It was repaired in my house and then the only problem was the reboot issue. It worked fine apart from the rebooting. Sony agreed to pay me compensation and replace this working TV with an XE9305.

I would encourage anyone who has an XD9305 under warranty or extended warranty who has had the power failure to insist on a free upgrade to anXE9305. Support in Egypt were of no help to me. They were the problem resulting in the compensation payment. I was treated as a customer with a problem only when I spoke to a guy in Germany. An English guy in Germany.

Wow! This is spookily similar to our own experiences. The screen in the first TV went after 55 days. Eventually, and only thanks to a helpful Currys Manager, did we get a replacment set. This one has now suddenly decided not to power on regardless of how hard I try.

There seems to be an awful lot of 'rare' things going wrong with these models... Come on Sony, just admit that the TV's are sub-standard and hand our money back.

I've found Sony's Customer Service to be the least helpful that I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. I've got a lot of Sony products but, after receiving constant crappy service, I won't be buying anything else with their name on it.

Got my letter ready to be handed in to Currys after the Sony Repair Agent can confirm that our telly is, indeed, kaput! Full refund please, LG here I come.

Got my LG OLED this weekend... All i would advise you guys to do is reject the XD, the XE and get yourself on the LG train... the difference is astonishing in every area.

Out of interest, do all XD9305s come with an external power adaptor or are there models with only a power board that is built in? Mine has an external power adaptor ...

Its the internal power supply board that is the problem not the external power adapter. The Sony TVs have both.
