I recently bought the XR55A80L TV and connected it to the TA-AN1000 amplifier via eARC. I set the HDMI format to "Enhanced VRR," but I realized that when watching a movie, the auto picture mode doesn't work, and the TV locks the picture format to "Game."
To enable auto picture mode, you need to switch the HDMI setting to "Enhanced Dolby Vision," but then VRR won’t work on my PS5.
At this point, having a dedicated PS5 port on the amplifier feels pointless if the TV blocks the signal. The HDMI format for Dolby Vision and VRR on the TV should switch automatically based on the signal received. Hopefully, this can be addressed with a future software update, as it seems like a solvable issue.
Currently, to watch a movie from my Shield, I have to connect the Shield directly to the amplifier and set the eARC to Dolby Vision. However, to play on the PS5, I need to connect another long cable from the PS5 to the TV’s HDMI port 4 and set it to VRR. When doing this, the amplifier shows "TV" instead of "PS5," and I prefer having everything neatly labeled. For example, when watching a movie, I want the amplifier to show "Shield," and when playing a game, I want it to show "PS5." But connecting the PS5 directly to the TV causes the amplifier to only show "TV."
I also noticed that the AN1000 amplifier has two HDMI outputs, but the manual doesn’t mention whether these can be used to connect to the same TV via two different HDMI ports. My idea was to set eARC for Dolby Vision (used for my Shield) and use HDMI output B to connect the PS5 to the TV.
Would this setup work?
