This device is not currently supported in the country/region associated with your account

You'd like to think the simple process of adding a HDTV to your Sony account would be...well simple.

So I go to "Activate HDTV" enter the activation code from the TV and get the message as subject:

"This device is not currently supported in the country/region associated with your account"

I'm logged into my Sony account on the TV in question. Any ideas what this is all about??

Hi there,

Can you let me know the model of your TV?

Best wishes,

Hi,

It's a 55XF9005 - I assume Sony have sent me a UK TV. The Sony account is definitely UK region.

Thanks.

Hi there,

Are you trying to register the TV onto your Sony account as you do with new devices (for warranty and support)? or is this related to a different service? What is the account you are using to register?

Here is what I'm trying to do:

https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/
Sign-in (Using my SEN account, same as used on Playstation etc)
2-factor Authentication sends me a code
Devices>HDTV>Activate an HDTV
Enter your activation code (little diagram shows the number coming from the TV)
Enter this 5-digit code <continue>
This device is not currently supported in the country/region associated with your account

I used this method for my original 55XE9305 and that went in fine. My replacement 55XE9305 had the same issue as listed, however as that was also faulty I didn't bother chasing it.

Now having this issue with the 55XF9005 I've been sent as a replacement

Hi Again,

I'm wondering at this point about the regional settings of your account. Is it setup for the UK or EU in general? If that's the case, I'd recommend getting in touch with Playstation support as they usually manage account issues when it comes to SEN. I highly doubt that the TV itself is the cause of the issue.

The Country/Region is set to "United Kingdom" and not EU or Europe. Once a Sony account is created you cannot ever change the region - it's locked.

So this location setting forces me to use, for example, the Playstation UK store and won't allow me to purchase from the EU or European store.

As said, my original 55XE9305 was successfully added here - it went straight through. However the XF9005 will not, so that is making me think that the TV I've been supplied by Sony is not a UK specification one but rather an EU one. I don't know if there are any differences at all.

Hi,

Both of the TVs that had that issue with the account are models that are sold in the UK market and are meant to be used in the UK, so I don't think the issue is that you received a TV from a different region. This is probably an account related issue due to some conflict. I'd reach out to PlayStation about this since they manage this part of the system.

Hi - I have a new UK Sony Centre provided 49fx9005 with exactly the same issue. Tried Playstation support this am but they were not able to help.
