Sony XE930 TV HDR issue with Xbox One X

Can someone please offer me some sensible advice. I have the 65 Sony XE930 series tv, a lovely set and have just connected the Xbox One X using the Audioquest Pearl HDMI lead, it’s HDCP 2.2, and handles 18Gbps, top quality lead. When the tv sesnses HDR content on a game it looks like something happens, processing I guess and the screen goes black for a second as it flicks to HDR mode, showing the screen resolution top left as HDR is enabled. I notice it turns off ambient light and pushes brightness to max etc. At random sometimes when it tries to flick to HDR mode it struggles and I lose picture completely with the message unsupported media or something, you can see it flicking over and over at the top, what on Earth is happening as it’s doing my head in. I have to reset the tv in the end? I’ve tried 3 leads now and an Xbox One S which it does on that too. When it works looks fab so I’m stumped?

Hi @Deadlydazzag

Have you set the HDMI signal format to Enhanced format? Home -> Settings -> External Inputs -> HDMI signal format.  You must use input HDMI 2 or 3.

Hi thanks for reply, yes I’m on HDMI 3/Arc, and under external inputs have checked enhance 4K signal. On the Xbox settings when I check my tv I have all nice green ticks. This is what’s baffling me, mostly it clicks to HDR mode fine, but randomly it struggles, you see it clicking over and over at the top of screen like its struggling then no picture at all?

Setting HDMI to advanced doesn’t solve it no, as I mentioned that was on from the start

hiya, i had the same problem , after trying out multiple hdmi cables , finally got it to work when i used the cable that came  with my ps4 pro , none of the other 3 hdmi cables that i used worked, funny they all work on my kidz normal ps4 ,,but with my pro just kept losing signal /flickering weird artifacts , gave me quite a scare to be honest

Interesting you had it with the PS4, cuts out it’s not the consoles then. I’m using the Audioline Pearl hdmi cable, it’s an award winner. Mostly it clicks over to HDR, every now and then it struggles, defo the two aren’t communicating the way they should, software update needed thank you Sony!
